Inspired by a tweet I saw on the AT home page, I had a quick run through some 4k MP4s, viewed via VLC 2.2.1. The GPU is a Windforce gtx960 4GB (built-in HEVC), the SSD is an Ultra II 480GB. UASP is not enabled. All of the MP4s bar one played fine - they are mostly cinema release trailers (Elysium, Skyfall, that ilk). However, the 2013 Taipei 101 Fireworks clip suffered severe corruption on the more detailed frame sequences, particularly the initial firework explosion off the Taipei 101 tower, but also during non-action shots such as the anticipatory crowd scenes and the start-of-clip Taipei at night overview (lots of dots representing car headlights). Strangely, during the 'confetti' scene before the fireworks, there was no corruption, smaller dots than the headlights I guess.
I would be interested to know how other ATites have fared with 4k content from SSDs over USB3x.
