USB3 Pwr'd Hub for Ext HDDs

Morning All,

I have never used an external USB hard drive before that wasn't directly connected to a native USB port. Has anyone tried placing a powered USB3 in line with external USB3 hard drives that is connected directly to a USB3 local port?

Anyone care to recommend a USB3 hub product?

It probably works as advertised. USB3 has much more bandwidth than 2, I'd imagine it would work just fine. If you buy one get a good company since it's powered. Trendnet or Rosewill maybe?

They make multibay USB3 enclosures with built in hubs see san's digital's site for a few examples, it has similar bandwith to Esata (higher in some cases) so most enclosures that supported multiple drives have been or could be updated to support usb 3.

i have a powered USB3 hub on my desk at work, which i have a USB3 HDD dock plugged in to, and i plug my USB3 flash drive in to. works great. i get full speed on both devices. i got a cheap $20 one from newegg.
