USB Wireless adapter keeps showing up as new device

I have a usb wireless network adapter that I use on my desktop that I connect to the internet with. The problem that I'm having is that every time I plug it in it is re-installed. I'm now up to #4. This wouldn't be such a big deal except that every time this happens I have to reconfigure that wireless settings.

Is there any way to remove the previous instances of the device? Is there a way for me to tell the computer that it isn't a new device but should be identified as a previous instance? #1-3 don't currently show up in the device manager. I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit and the adapter is the Atheros AR5007UG.
