USB - Which Version do I have?

I bought an inexpensive Compaq about 6 months ago.

How can I tell if it has USB 2.0 or 1.1?
Can 1.1 be upgraded via just software?
Can it be upgraded easily with hardware?

Is there a site that explains this that I could visit?

Look in device manager. What model compaq?
Can't be software upgraded from 1.1 to 2.0
Can get a USB 2.0 card to plug in a PCI slot
