My dad has the Hauppauge one on his P2-400mhz laptop.

Quality isn't brilliant (as you can expect), however for tuning into the occasional TV when away on holiday he says it's fine :)

Just obviously don't expect HDTV peformance from it :)

I had an ati tv wonder usb which was usb 1.1. Man it wasn't worth the money. The video was very jerky and the sound suffered also. From what I read usb 1.1 just doesn't have enough bandwidth.

I would reccomend that you buy an usb 2.0 and use it until you decide to buy a usb 2.0 pcmcia card. They make those don't they? Anyhow it should work with your current usb connection.

Edit: I just read your sig. I was in Pohang for about 45 days in 1986. I was there for team spirit. Do they still have that exercise?

Well it did work and it was adequate. I was just very disappointed. To me it was not worth the money for what I was looking for. I was wanting to do some video recording from tapes as well as watching tv. The tvwonder usb was not what I was looking for. Quite a few dropped frames in the video makes recording videos terrible. If you just want to be able to watch tv when you aren't around one it would do. Anyhow I would spend the cash on a usb 2.0 model. It will work on usb1.1 just not as much bandwidth. Then you have the capability of faster weather you want to upgrade your current system or buy new a laptop later.

Team spirit back when I was there they said it was the largest military exercise held in the free world. With all that is going on I doubt that that is still true. Not to mention that was back before the berlin wall fell.
