USB to USB transfer?

Just built a new rig and now I need to transfer data from my laptop to my rig. I don't want to go the expensive route of setting up a network and besides my laptop has no ethernet card. Was wondering if it's possible to transfer the data via usb?

Anybody can offer some help?

I'm looking for suggestions on how I can transfer the data for as little money as possible. If possible can you give me a brief description of how I transfer via parallel ports?

you need a data transfer parallel cable(IEEE1394 if memory serves me right), you can get them just about anywhere you can buy printer cables, for $15. then use the direct connection utility to make a connection and tranfer at will. it's a little slower than usb transfers, but last time I checked the usb cable to do the same thing was $30 or $40.

It's worth it to buy a network card for your laptop and a crossover Ethernet cable so you can transfer your files using a network.
