USB to paralel cable

Okay, my uncle bought a new printer, but it only accepts USB connections, it doesn't have a parallel port. His laptop doesnt have USB connections, just a parallel port for the printer. My advice would be to buy a USB PCMCIA card for the laptop, but he wants to use a parallel cable. I'm asking if such a cable exist or some type of adapter, from USB (printer) to a parallel port (laptop). I've seen the other way around, from parallel (printer) to usb (PC). Can anyone send me to the right direction, or if a cable even exist lol.

Nope - no such thing. The above allows you to use your regular parallel cable attached to the printer to plug into a USB port on the computer. What you need is a USB to Parallel adapter. My suggestion is to take the printer back and get one that has a parallel port if he's adamant about it. Your idea is the only one that will allow the new printer to work. Are you sure there isn't a USB port on the laptop - it would have to be pretty ancient not to have both... They have dropped the parallel port entirely from newer ones.

Rottie: Notice how it says USB _to_ LPT, not the other way round.

You cannot make a USB bus from an LPT connection, end of.

PCMCIA USB is the way to go, but only possible if the laptop has a _cardbus_ PCMCIA socket (32-bit PCI-ish), not just the old 16-bit ISA-like legacy PCMCIA. Check in Device Manager.
 
Proof? Or is that little "drive-by" comment simply a post count builder?

And remember we're talking adapting a USB printer to a parallel port on the confuser - NOT vice versa (the adapters for that are common).
