I've been doing some research on different adapters to connect my phone display to my monitor. It has a dvi and vga adapter but no hdmi. My graphics card however does have an open hdmi port. Would I be able to use it through my graphics card or would I need to find a dvi adapter to connect directly to my monitor?

The GPU in your computer almost certainly does not support video IN.

Many Android devices will allow for HDMI OUT over the microUSB port, but you need a special cable for it. You should then be able to use an HDMI-female to DVI-male adapter to connect it to your monitor.

There are many versions of MHL dating back to the HTC 3d days.

It looks like the LG G4 uses slimport,

Yeah I was reading a bit about that. Hopefully that'll work. The one I got was a waste of 15 bucks. I don't know if it was the adapter, my hdmi adapter, or my monitor. I use an HDMI to dvi cable on my computer and that was what I tried. But my monitor didn't read that anything was connected
