Wonder if there are any Winamp-esque MP3 apps that would work right from the drive without needing to be installed. /me attacks Google...

Just curious as to how people put USB thumb drives to use these days. I just picked up my first one (second if you count the dead one I bought and returned to Fry's.) Haven't found much use for it yet other than making sure I have a copy of Putty and a Remote Desktop client with me at all times.

Are you a new AT staff member?

Yeah. I give them about 2 months to realize what a mistake it was.

I take it you two know eachother?

Nate

Yeah. I used to use him as my b!tch, but I couldn't take him with me when I moved.

I keep AVG, Spybot, and Adaware on it at all times.
Hey how do you keep an install of free AVG on a thumb drive? I thought that the download is just a web trigger and the password is only good for 24 hrs? 😕

someone at work took my 256mb drive when i left it sitting in the conference room.

someone else at work has a 1gb thumb drive. freaking crazy. it looks like a plain old 32mb one but it really holds 1gb. you'd think they make them out of aluminum or something.

I have a 128MB one. I use it for little handy programs.

he jelly bean, and for taking work files om.

Sits on my key chain.

I have a 512MB that has all of the software tools and updates that I need on a daily basis.

A lot of spyware removal tools. Ugh.

i use mine for school =\ the life of a college student

and by school , i mean it has an NES emulator and every NES rom every made in a nice 80meg zip file. (i have a 128mb flash drive for that). For my actual school documents (class notes, papers, etc) i use a 32mb drive to transfer from my laptop to computer, and vice versa.

you guys use adaware and spybot? what else? i never thought to put those.. ive had this dell i got from work for months and havent put a single file on it.

I use mine to steal files from the CIA and sneak it out in the bottom of my coffee cup. I learned how to do this by watching 'The Recruit'. 😛

Adaware, spybot, cwshredder, our schools corporate norton, winsock tools, and other normal spyware removal stuff.
