have a brand new corsair usb 1gig drive thats been great until just a few hours ago. It started giving me warning when i went to eject it that the F drive is currently in use-- "if you eject the disk now, you may lose data...etc.."

we turned off her computer and unplugged it. I took the drive home and now its doing it on my main pc...whats the deal? why would it do it on both computers? gah...

This is just a guess but it really sounds like your friend has a virus on her computer that infected your thumb drive while it was attached to her PC. When the drive is plugged in, that virus activates itself and therefore the files on the drive show as "in use" and Windows can't disconnect the drive properly. I would strongly recommend a full virus scan on your computer, the thumb drive, and your friend's computer as soon as possible.

i scanned the drive with 4 different scans and it was clean as well as my pc so far.

Although i think i may have fixed it...I went into device manager and disabled the drive then unplugged. Then i plugged it back in and enabled it. Now i can eject it without an error. Strange...
