USB thumb drive problems.

I am using a GA-7VAXP mobo at home and a GA-7VAX mobo at work, both with Windows XP, and have tried several different brands of thumbnail drives (sandisk, PNY, micro advantage). I have updated drivers etc.

When I plug in the drive anything to do with Explore, My Computer, Browse, or anything that would display the thumbnail drive immediately goes to "NOT RESPONDING". However, even not responding, if I unplug the device the programs begin to work correctly. Why wont it just work?

Also, sometimes, it will work if I plug it in before I turn my computer on. Restarting usually doesnt work. It has to actually shut down then turned back on. But this doesnt even work every time. Also, some times, if I go to Hardware with the drive plugged in and uninstall it or disable it then uplug it and either reinstall it or enable it, it "sometimes" works, 2 of 10 times possibly.

NOTE: For some reason, the drives stay lite up even when the computer is shut off if they are still plugged in. Is this a problem?

Did you build the computers that you're trying to use the Pendrives on? It sounds like the USB ports are not wired up correctly. Are you using the front USB ports, or the ones on the I/O panel of the mobo itself?

I find it unusual that you are experiencing the same exact problem, on two different boxes, BUT they are both using the same mobo.

All of my other USB peripherals work just fine. I only built my personal one, but the USB wiring is a plug from PCI slot to Mobo, you cant wire it wrong.
