hey guys, i just have this little problem with my ti5vg+ motherboard. I bought a webcam the otherday and you know how when you plug it into the usb port, it should automatically give me this add new hardware stuff? well it didn't. Then one of my friends told me that I should check and make sure that it is enabled in the bios, which it wasn't at first, but i enabled it, and it still didn't work(big long nasty sentence eh? :) )
when windows restarted, it tried to install a USB controller, but did not do that successfully. I dunno, maybe i need a new update on the bios or something? I have the original CD that came with the board, but i couldn't install anything from it.
please help :)

thanks in advance!

I have this board. Not happy with it but I've lived with it for the last 2+ years. I have an early revision that doesn't accept the CTX core but I have it working anyway. I have had problems with USB on the board. Both with a webcam and a scanner. The scanner just outright won't work but Visioneer already admitted they never tested on anything but Intel and they tell you if you have anything else, return the scanner and buy another brand. Lovely. The webcam was giving me static and occasionally a green screen. I fixed this by using a USB hub. It turns out it was a power problem. I don't think this board is capable of giving enough good clean power to the webcam.
Okay, having just reread your post:
Enable USB in the BIOS and also let the BIOS assign an IRQ to it. That should allow you to install the controller. On this particular board, I found that it is better to install the drivers first before plugging in the device. On all my other systems, I can install the drivers before, during, or after but not this system. I am assuming you are using some flavor of win 98. Don't be surprised if you find the IRQ holders appear to have a problem. It stil functions properly. It is just a matter of how this board handles the IRQ table.

Thanks a bunch!
it's working now. But once in a while the green light would go away...like it died or something. probably the board's problem. but at least it's working :)

oh ya, just a random question. What sites are good to bring my webcam onto the web? I heard camarades.com was a good one. any others?
thanks!!
