I have a MSI Z97-GUARD-PRO which was recently reviewed by Anandtech. I was wondering if there was a way to disable the power to the USB ports while the system is sleeping?

It used to be, motherboards would have physical jumpers near the USB ports, that would let you select between +5v and +5vSB (standby) to power the USB ports. If you select +5v, the USB ports will be totally disabled during sleep mode. If you select +5vSB, then they will remain powered during standby / sleep mode.

Bummer. My board has no such jumper. I have this usb powered relay which disconnects power from my power-hungry stereo receiver when my tv is off. But on my new tv it supplies usb power even when it is off so I figured I would try the PC instead. But that also supplies usb power when in standby. lol. My only solution at this point is to use hibernate more aggressively, because hibernate does turn off usb power. Luckily it only takes about 10 seconds to resume from hibernate.
