USB speakers with sound card?

I have an older pair of USB (1.1 I think) Sound Sticks w/ sub.

I am going to be building a new system, and want to know if I'll be able to use these speakers with a sound card. I don't know of any sound cards that have a USB output, and I also haven't come across any 3.5mm to USB adapters.

Assuming these products don't exist, I guess my only option would be to plug the speakers into a USB port on the motherboard? Wouldn't it be pointless to have a sound card then, since the speakers wouldn't be plugged into it?

Any proposed solutions?

Any usb speakers have a "sound card" built in. The main purpose of a sound card is to convert digital to analog and do it well. with a usb output...the sound card would be doing nothing.
