USB problems with KT7-Raid, plz help me

Modeps

alrighty, Ive tried a variety of things here to try and fix my problem. here it is:
My configuration is:

USBPort1 -> USB Microtek Scanner
USBPort2 -> USB Hub -> USB Optical Explorer Mouse

I have tried removing the hub and hooking the mouse directly to port2, but it dosent matter. After a short time, for some reason, my mouse's red glow, stops glowing and the mouse stops working, as well as the scanner. However, when the scanner is not attached, It works fine. I've disabled error checking in the device manager and done some other things that didnt work. do the new via drivers help out at all? im contemplating installing them.

Has anyone had these problems and fixed them? i would like to run my computer without having to unplug my scanner all the time. Thanks in advance.

nope, not yet, i was curious if they were worth installing or not and if they fixed any problems like this. (seeing that they didnt update the USB filter at all)

I'm pretty sure installing the newest drivers would help tremendously. I remember reading posts on here a little while ago about people with USB problems on the KT133 chipset. Go ahead and do that and let us know what happens.

I have the USB 1.08 Filter drivers installed and also VIA's 4in1 (4.25a) drivers installed. I have an Epson 880 USB printer and been having hell with it. The printer works fine as long as I don't do anything in the process. Once the printer is printing and I load up something like IE or My Computer, the printer would stop printing and give me an error how it has lost connection with the USB. It seems to me that the KT133 chipset is not capable of sending data through USB once it is under load. That or it could be my printer but I doubt it.

Blah...

The VIA USB controller on the board is a POS, at least in my opinion. Here this will fix all USB problems at least it did for me.

There must be some fix to this problem. I know the KT133 is not the best chipset but at least the USB should work!

I have heard the KT7 RAID has some issues with USB.... specifically devices shutting off after a while... I also read if you unplug them and plug them back in they start working again.... this isnt a KT133 problem its a Abit KT7 problem. I dont know a fix.

I've tried unplugging them and plugging them back in, and I get no luck with that. And that doesnt make sense what you've just said, sorry. KT133 Chipset is what controls the USB functions of the KT7 therefore it would be specifically a KT133 problem.

I am running the KT133 board, (non-raid. The site usbman has some useful information on it.

The problems I was having were the following;
1. With my APC UPS plugged in the system could not boot
2. I had to unplug and then replug my printer into a different usb port for it to print.
3. Had no troubles with my usb zip drive

The addition of the pci card cured all of those problems. I tried bios changes and made sure the drivers were up to date and the putting in the controller card fixed both problems. And now I have four full usb ports to run things off.

Hope this helps, Glp1

P.S. sorry for the delayed response but that work thing got in the way.

The chipset is not the only thing that has to do with it. My friend bought a Abit KT7 (Which he sold within a few days) He couldnt get his USB working right so he brought it over to my house.... I took all his components and put them on my A7V and it worked fine.

And Im dead serious its not totally KT133 related.... go to the jaugernauts A7V troubleshooting board..... Ive seen like one thread ever on USB not working... with KT7 I see quite a few.

Define Port1 and Port2? By that do you mean one and two to be the ones right by the ps2 ports? Or do you mean port 1 being those two usb ports and port2 being the addition headers? I'll assume the first one. I have several usb devices that are on my KT7Raid. One being a usb tv tuner that locks up occasionally when the Hauppauge program does not have the focus. It will wipe out everything connected to that header (webcam, mouse, scanner, keyboard). When I moved the keybaord and mouse to the other header (ports3 and 4), I still lost the webcam and scanner but the keybaord and mouse would still function. Try plugging the scanner into one of those ports and see if that will help isolate the situation.
Hope this helps you.

yes you are correct in your assumption. I have the additional 2 ports connected to the header that you spoke of, however nothing is on them. it sounds to me like a good shot. I shall try that.
thanks.
