USB problems with Epox 8K7A

I have an Epox 8K7A, with an Athlon XP 2200+,and 512 MB crucial RAM. I have a USB game controller and an optical mouse that are only recogonized intermittently. I changed the mouse to a PS2 connection and have no problems with it, but my controller still has its problem. I can hear the tone go in and out (where the controller is recognized and then unrecognized, recognized, etc. Makes it impossible to play a game. I can't figure out if this is a software problem, or a MB problem. It used to work great with same equipment and this problem started suddenly. I have reformatted my HD and did a complete fresh install of XP. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Did you load the chipset drivers after the install of XP? Have you tried reloading the drivers for the game controller. Have you tried different USB slots?

I have tried all that, I read a couple of reviews last night that said a gravis USB gamepad pro controller won't work on XP. Anyone know if this is true?

You might want to check out the patch, etc that is listed on this page. If you already have then maybe someone else can assist. Read the entire thing though (if you haven't already).

What is the Rev. # on your motherboard? I want to upgrade my 8K7A Rev. 1.0 but EPOX says it only supports XP 1900+. What version of the BIOS/Drivers are you using?
