Hey there-
I've got an IBM intellistation (6893) and Its not starting the USB at boot.
I've flashed the (AMI)BIOS to current levels, I've made triple sure that the settings for USB are on and autodetect is enabled. It still refuses to give my intelimouse a 'red-light' at start up.
One thing that has me curious is that when I'm plugging the mouse in, the bottom of the mouse very briefly flashes red- but thats it. nothing else. So that tells me the port is powered (?) I've even tried to very slowly insert the plug to get the light to stay on but it won't. Just a really quick flicker, then nothing.
I've checked out all the IRQ's to make sure there are no conflicts- there are none.
The IBM site gives no help. I've downloaded their system troubleshooter and have run it - no problems... it reports that USB is enabled and functioning correctly.
I'm running SuSE 7.3 right now but the problem exists for win2k as well. It seems the machine just doesn't want to run the USB ports?
This has had me scratching my head for a couple of weeks now. I'm stumped.
Anyone have any experience with this machine?
I've been reading a ton of stuff relating to linux and USB but nothing seems to apply since the ports don't seem to be turning on at POST. Seems like all the problems relate to BIOS config but I'm certain the settings are correct.
Beuller?
