USB problem

Hello everyone

My brother has a problem with his USB. He says that once in a while the mouse stops working for ~5 seconds and then starts working again. When the mouse stops working it plays that "usb-unplug" sound and then when it starts working again it plays the "usb-plugged-in" sound. I haven't managed to investigate it very much because he's playing that damn World of Worldcraft all the time, but i've checked with other usb-mouses but it keeps doing the same. It doesn't matter which port it's pluged in to.

Thanks in advance

Before he starts playing WOW, check his Device Manager for yellow exclamation points next to his USB ports or his mouse. If there are none there, try plugging in a different USB device and see if it disconnects/reconnects also. If it does, I would get the latest BIOS and drivers for his motherboard and mouse and install them. If not, you could try hooking his mouse to a powered USB hub to try to cure the problem.

You can also check Microsoft Updates to see if they have hardware updates for that particular mouse.

USB driver update, pluging in the mouse to extra-usb-pci card and changing mouse did not help.
I'll change hardrive on his machine when i got some time over. Maybe a fresh system will do the trick.

Thanks anyway, Alzan
