usb problem

plug in thumb drive, external burner.....they show up in the sys tray and are recognized for what they are but they do not show up in my computer. anyone know a fix

just remembered i gots another problem too....
17" flat panel 1705fpv....has usb 2 ports on it and they dont work as well

Make sure the drive letter isn't taken by another drive. For instance if you have D: and F: drive letters being used, the external might be trying to use one of those drive letters. But since they are taken, will not show up in my computer.

To check this do the following.

-Right Click My Computer
-Manage
-Disk Management
-Look for the external Drive
-Right Click on the Drive
-Change Drive Letter and Path
-Click on Change
-Pick a different letter

Hope this helps.

As for the flat panel issue. Check the USB cable to make sure it secured tightly. If that doesn't work, try another USB cable. If that does work. You maybe have a defective hub on the flat panel.
