Hi,
I have an old IBM NetVista PC with an intel 915 chipset that I installed Windows 2K on, and I'm having some trouble getting the USB drivers installed. I've updated to SP4 and all other recent updates, and installed intel's INF chipset drivers, but in device manager the USB controller driver is still not installed with a yellow exclamation mark next to it.

What gives?

Thanks!

If you haven't already done so...

I'd delete the devices with the exclamation(s), then go to Control Panel -> Add New Hardware, and let Windows 'find' the USB controller et cetera.

Um...

Does that make sense? I'm nodding off... :)

I tried an alternative of that, which is simply "update driver" or something like that, but it asks me where to look for the driver. I tried pointing it to the INF driver folder but there was nothing usable there. If I let it auto detect the drivers it wouldn't find anything.

Hrm...

Well, I've had problems like this in the past, and the only way I could correct it is by deleting the device. Then, either adding new hardware via control panel, or simply rebooting and letting Windows 'find' the right one.

Updating the driver(s) isn't going to do any good because Windows has detected the wrong device.

THIS MIGHT HELP TOO ;)

Thanks VinDSL. I went ahead and tried deleting the driver and it worked :)
