I am having a problem with a ECS K7SEM that I put in my neighbor's computer. We installed XP Pro from scratch and the Orinoco USB client keeps losing or cannot establish a connection, and it turns out there is a USB detect problem in W2K with the SIS730 chipset on the board. I tried a reg update file that was supposed to cure this, but it did not.
If I put a PCI USB card in, does it use its own chipest and would that bypass the SIS' chipset? It is either that, back down to W2K (which we don't want to do), or try the PC card/PCI adapter that I have instead. The first option would be preferred, but I don't want to buy a USB card for no reason.
