USB Priority on startup

There have been several times that I have had to do a hard shutdown of my computer. When I boot the PC back up, it sends me to a screen asking me to select one of several booting modes (safe, normal, and such). I always want normal mode, but the problem is that I cannot select anything because my USB keyboard has not been given power. I have to wait 30 seconds for the automatic selection. This sort of thing sometimes happens after I wake the computer from a long sleep. I am not able to type in my password for about 20 seconds because my keyboard has no power. Is there any way to give priority to USB devices so that I don't have an inconvenience?

If you use Vista you can take the USB out of the loop of the Power Saving by setting the Advanced Power Management.

check in your BIOS settings there is usually a setting for making usb native so you don't have to wait for drivers to load

I don't know what that is. I couldn't see anything under the power settings in the CP.

The IP35 does not have that option. I cannot find it.

If you tell us the exact info about the OS that you are using, and the Model of your Motherboard ther is a good chance that some one would help.

Otherwise your general None specific info got a general None specific answer and you are on your own.

Try going to integrated peripherals -> onchip PCI device -> USB device setting, and then change it to USB keyboard support via BIOS. That sounds like it should fix your problem.

And in Vista, Control Panel/Power click on Change Plan Settings, click on Change Advance Power settings, choose USB.

vj8usa, thank you for the help. I found the setting and changed it. Hopefully it works. I will post back here if I have issues.

JackMDS, USB Selective Suspend is disabled. :)
