USB ports stop working after period of time on KT7Raid

I have just recently started having this problem where my onboard USB hub will stop working after a couple of hours of use. I have a an Abit KT7-Raid so it has two onboard hubs. Usually what happens is either my mouse stops responding or my external USB hub goes dead. I then I have to unplug whichever doesn't work and plug it in to the other onboard hub (each hub has 2 ports - 4 total). I installed the newest VIA drivers and removed cards from slots 4 and 6 as advised by the FAQ. (just to make sure - they are numbered from the AGP port out, not counting AGP, right?) Anyone have a solution for this? It's quite annoying because occasionally I have to restart.

Which BIOS version are you using? I had MAJOR problems with WZ, including erratic boots, which came back on I think it was 64 or 6F? (Gods, Abit needs to get a clue about version numbering.) I can't say I've had this problem though.. I'm running a TBird 750, Rev2 KT7-RAID, 256M, yadda, but only rear USB. Do you have an IRQ allocated to the USB ports? Check IRQ usage.. if there's an overlap with the USB ports, that could be causing it.

I looked in device manager (I have win2k) and there are two VIA USB Universal Host Controllers. Both are set to IRQ 11, how do I change this?

In the BIOS, under PCI/PnP I believe it is, there is an option 'Enable IRQ for USB'. Change this to DISABLED and see if it helps any.

It has happened a couple more times in the last few days. *sigh* Why can't anything just work? 🙁

The only similar problem I had with a Win2k machine and USB is my mouse would sometimes just stop responding. I went to the properties of the mouse and set it to "allow this device to bring pc out of standby" and have never had a problem since.

It's not always my mouse though, sometimes it is other stuff. I have a USB hub with a camera, printer, and memory card reader plugged and occasionally that goes out while my mouse does not...as long as they are on different internal USB hubs. Is it possible the camera is sending too much data and it fouls up the USB? It takes a while for this to happen, although I think it did occur while the camera was off.
