Some time ago the USB ports on my Chaintech VNF3-250 stopped working. I do not recall changing anything on the computer when this happened. I have re-installed windows and played with any bios setting i can find. I checked the device manager and it does not show any errors for the USB ports. For now i am using a PCI card for my USB devices but my Dell DJ will not work with the card for some odd reason so i need to fix this problem. Any suggestions?

1. Reseat all cards and cables, and pay particular attention to the USB wiring. The rear ports probably have a wiring harness that came with the motherboard, but the front usb's probably use the case wiring. Anyone one of those wires could be loose, causing problems for the whole system.

2. Clear your CMOS on the motherboard. Unplug it from the wall when you do this. Then, reset your settings in the bios.

Do you use the nvidia utility to change FSB ? According to some forums, this can corrupt the bios on some boards, which resulted in no USB. They restored bios defaults or reinstalled bios and USB returned.

Of course they quit using the utility to change FSB. YMMV
