USB Port on Digital Cable Box

I just got digital cable, and saw that my digital cable box has a USB port on the back of it. What exactly can I use this port for? It would be really nice if this could plug into the computer, would make it much easier to record stuff on computer than on my crappy VCR. I have the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 Digital Cable Box, and it looks like it doesn't have the ethernet port it is supposed to have, only a USB port and the standard A/V connections.

Anybody know what I can do with this port?

I think you plug keyboards and stuff into them if your cable company enables the internet capabilities of the box.
