I just got a "new" motherboard a Gigabyte GA_7VAXP, it didn't come with anything other than the board itself. There's only two usb ports on it without having one of the little cable things. My question is I've got an old cable thing from another motherboard and in theory I can just move all the pins around and use that. Except it was for a usb 1.1 motherboard and the gigabyte is usb 2. Is there any difference between the two?

Another thing I've noticed is that the cable only has 4 pins per port with the ground doubled up with a second wire while the motherboard is looking for an extra pin labled "usb over current". What are the chances this is going to work?

I am pretty sure the pinouts are the same for USB 1.1 and 2.0. The "over-current" is probably to supply current in excess of USB spec. Shouldn't be a big deal unless you are running tons of bus-powered devices. (It is probably just an extra 5V line since the wires on those headers are usually only 28 AWG)
