usb peripherals and android phone

lemme axe you a question, lemme axe you a question, i bought a mini usb to b usb adapter, i plugged it into my droid m with a mouse, and a cursor appeared on my phone. i plugged the adapter into a usb hub and plugged a mouse and keyboard into the phone and it didnt work. so maybe usb hubs dont work with android? i was hoping to plug into a hub so that i could also recharge at the same time i used a keyboard/mouse

i did all of this with my droid razr, also running jelly bean, and it didnt work with the adapter at all, the mouse cursor wouldnt even appear. why?

Yeah, some stuff won't work properly with USB power alone on my RAZR HD. eg. Some USB thumb drives, esp. when trying to play a HD video off of it.

Mice, keyboards, and wired network adapters work fine individually.
