USB over ethernet or increase USB range

I am looking for a way to place a USB hard drive about 20 feet away from my computer. This will be used to store surveillance video in case the computer gets stolen the data drive will be in a safe place.

A better solution would be for my computer to upload video to an external web space that I have. I don't know how to do this though.

Thats not a bad price I may get one of those just to have. What about an ESATA to SATA + Power cable that would let me mount an internal drive externally. That way I could save $100 and pull my internal SATA drive and mount it in my desk or something.

You talking about a 3.5" external SATA enclosure?. Newegg has @ 400 of those...maybe a zilllion!

I do have a coupla of favs. Either the Antec MX-1 for a case or the Thermaltake ST0005U BLACX for a docking station.

Or, am I way off base here?

I've seen USB over ethernet setups for around $50. Only I don't really recall where I last saw them. But I know that they're out there.

Instead of that solution, why not a NAS and a wireless router. That way there would be no physical connection between the two.
