USB or LAN best for DSL

If you plan to use only one computer there is no real difference between using t he USB interface and Ethernet.

However if you plan to Network, or and Share the Internet connection between few computers. Using USB might cause a problem since the Hardware sold for this purposes is Ethernet. There is USB hardware but it is very expensive not flexible Slow and outdated.

In other word Do Not get or use the USB as far as Internet and network goes use Ethernet.

Thanks guys.

This is for a lady friend who is just signing up for dsl.
I would have to open up the computer to flip the
lan switch on - I hoped to skip that step.
She only uses the computer for email and watching her
broker, with the occasion buy and sell.

I was hoping the usb connection would be good enough.

I guess you all agree it will be.

She is using windows 2000.

Thanks again guys.

On of the ?popular? type of Threads.

The information that should be in the first post is in the Last one.

Sorry Jackmds. I guess Ishould have been more specific
in my first post. But, in my defence, I was looking for more
basic information. The question for my friends computer
just brought it to the forefront. If I had made the question
specific to her computer, the response might just have been:

" no difference"

As it is, I did get the information I wanted. And, again I say
thanks guys especially you Jackmds. I have read your articles
and responses with interest.

If some think i'm guilty, I bow my head in shame!
