USB or Firewire booting?

I was wondering if anybody knew if it was possible yet to boot from a USB or firewire-connected CD-ROM drive or floppy.

if your motherboard supports it, you can boot from usb devices like a zip and floppy. i'd guess a cd would work too... but not sure. What I would really like to see is if they could get those usb keychain things to boot... then i really have no need for this old ass floppy technology 😛

USB bootable floppy is allowed, in bios setup, on some Sony & Toshiba laptops, and also some newer desktop machines (brands?).
Boot from a USB CD-Rom: likely possible, but can't confirm.
Firewire boot: don't think any have that.

A quick google search indicates it should be possible to boot from firewire, but I suspect the
situation is the same as USB; you have to have the functionality built into the BIOS or other
firmware on the system.
