My HP-4000 Laserjet works with both as well - but it performs better and is more reliable with the LPT1 connection (bi-directional.) Try 'em and let the best performer rule.

I have an HP 5P on a parallel port and a Canon S830D on a USB port. No problems with either.

I have no trouble with my Epson C82 Pro on my USB cable. I like it better than bulky parallel cables.

My wife has an HP 952 that has always been flaky on usb; with 2 different mobos and win98 and xp. Works fine on parallel though.
