USB optical mouse problems

I have a Nf7s-2 mobo with the Nvidia Nforce ultra 400 chipset, and more frequently I am experiencing mouse lock up at boot up. The OS loads just fine but mouse is non-functional. If I reboot sometimes the problem clears and sometimes the problem returns.

Any Help would be great. It is such a pain to have to reboot.

Thanks,

Pyro

I had somewhat similar problems when I installed XP SP2...I also have the NF7-S 2.0, as well as the MX700 mouse. What ended up working for me was removing all the stuff under the USB Devices section in Device Manager, then letting it redetect and reinstall them all. Not sure why exactly this always worked for me, but it's something to try anyway. Of course, since I have the MX Duo (i.e. wireless USB keyboard as well), I had to plug them into the PS/2 ports to get them to work so I could do that. 😛
