USB on Tiger MPx

I thought this was fixed on the recent revisions of the MPx chipset. I just got a Tyan Tiger MPx and it didn't come with an addin USB card which further led me to believe that the problem was fixed. Also the most recent BIOS revision adds support for booting off of USB. Despite this the onboard USB controller appears to be detected as some nonstandard USB device and none of the USB devices I plug in seem to work. My USB keyboard doesn't work at all during the boot process if I enable legacy support in the BIOS, so I don't think it's a driver issue in Windows. Does anyone have a Tiger MPx with working onboard USB? Getting an addin card isn't that big a deal, but if I do, I can't use the front accessible ports on my case without some jury-riggin, which I'd like to avoid.

hmm..good question Pariah. I was wondering the same thing myself. Let me bump for you and see if anyone else knows.

I have the Tiger MPX-4M, which has the new southbridge that properly supports USB 1.1. There are still a few quirks, like the system won't boot if any USB is connected to the upper (furtherest from the motherboard plane, adjacent to LAN port) USB port.

I have an MS Natural Pro that I connect via USB with no problems (aside from a Win2K-SP4 issue;Linux, FreeBSD, WinME, and WinXP are fine). I even daisy-chain my MS Intellimouse Optical off of the keyboard. I will ocassionally connect my digital camera or my USB-to-IrDA adapter to the second/upper USB after booting).

What is the controller detected as? It says Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller on my, and reports itself as working fine, but underneath it are 4 USB Device(s) with yellow exclamation points which don't have the drivers installed for them. I have nothing plugged into any of my USB ports, so what are these devices and where do I find the drivers for them? Searching the Tyan CD brought up nothing.

On a related/unrelated note, it doesn't appear as if the onboard LAN controller is working either. The manual says the default jumper setting is closed which disables the controller, but there was no jumper on mine and regardless of whether or not I put a jumper on it nothing every gets detected in windows. I'm not overy concerned about this as I had no intention of using the onboard LAN, but if this is another sign that this board is DOA, I'd like to get a replacement.

I'm currently in WinXP, so it reads "Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller" along with "General Purpose USB Hub" and "USB Root Hub," none of which are disabled. The network adapter is "3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible).

BTW, this is a fresh (no more than 3 hours) install of WinXP with SP1 slipstreamed. My only disabled device is the gameport on my Santa Cruz.

Mine S2466N-4M is working fine w/ usb too. Although I can't figure out how to hook up the extra usb ports to the front of my case. Tyan doesn't supply the pin descriptons. Either of you guys know what they are? They only label pins 1-8, not pwr/grnd/etc.
