USB on a system w/o it?

Guys,

I'm getting ready to buy my college sophomore a digital camera, and the Nikon CoolPix 3100 is at the top of the list. The Nikon spec sheet says "built in" USB is necessary for use (OS is Windows 98SE, system is Abit BH6, PIII-650). I'm looking at an Orange Micro OrangeUSB add-in card to provide USB.

Is there any reason you know of that this card (or a similar card, as they're mostly based on an NEC chipset) would not work w/ this OS and camera?

TIA,

Jeff

I used a USB PCI board for a while and it worked fine with all devices I have ever used.. not sure why it says "built in" though

He's talking about the Built-In USB on the camera.

*Edit..well maybe he isn't. Does "built in" mean on the camera, or on the computer? I'm with him, it shouldn't matter whether or not it's built in on the computer.

I have a 2.0 usb/ pci card by orange micro and have used a nikon and a toshiba with it, never had a problem. I use it with w98se and xp pro

Guys, thanks for all the "thumbs up" replies re using an add-in USB card for a Nikon digital camera - now it's time to shop!
