USB NICS??? (plus a WINTV problem)

I have 2 3com NICs in my computer cuz we have a cablemodem and share it with a few comps...
but im thinking of getting a USB NIC cuz my WinTV isnt working with 2 cards in there...there arent any conficts but when i boot windows i get a popup box that says something couldnt be initialized or something....

Will i get the same performance from a USB nic as i did with a 3com nic??
Also any reccomendations on any GOOD but CHEAP USB nics?

if its just speed from the internet, you'll notice same performance. If you're doing computer to computer, USB is slower, as USB transfer rates are not capable of doing 100megabits on the same level as PCI. I use linksys USB for an iopener, works great.
