USB Mouse (wired) stops moving intermittently

I just reformatted my hard drive, and re-installed all my drivers which has been great to get performance back to the level it was when I first bought my laptop. Thing is I’m having an issue with my Logitech USB Optical mouse. Every 30 or so seconds it stops moving/responding for 2 seconds. As you can imagine this makes it extremely frustrating to get the simplest tasks done. Any tips to help me resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.

Things I’ve already tried
- Restarting
- Reinstalling/Updating Driver
- Unplugging/plugging in usb cord
- Checking power levels for USB port

I’ll probably try using the mouse on another computer later today to see if it’s device specific, but I doubt it since the symptoms only appeared after the reformat. Please let me know if you have other ideas.

how old is the mouse?

after a while, wiring in the cable can wear, and the connection will break.

I've had the same problem with the MX series from Logitech (500/518). They work great, until they just don't (working 99% of the time is detrimental and more frustrating than anything). I have personally yet to find the cause or a solution to the problem; however, if your product is still in warranty (3-5 years?), just call Logitech up, explain the symptoms, and they should send you a new replacement shortly.
