Sometimes when I am using my computer it will just disconnect the mouse and I have to unplug it and re connect it for it to work again. It doesn't matter what USB port it is in. the mouse is a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 any idea why this is happening?

You can try setting the usb ports' Power Management to not allow the pc to shutdown power (in Device Manager --USB section), but if that doesn't help, know this:

Microsoft Optical mice have had a history of failure. They will also replace the mouse absolutely free if you call them.

Write down any serial number info on the bottom of the mouse as they will ask for it.

Posting the same question in two forums is frowned upon. If you replace the mouse, try a wireless - or a powered hub. USB can simply be flaky in some some systems.

Here's a blurb about USB mice on this motherboard from a user reviewer at newegg.com:

"My USB mice kept freezing, PS2 mice were fine. It wasn't the mice. I spent close to 3 months and over 30 hours trouble shooting the issue with Asus and Microsoft. Asus even told me that 10% of these boards have grounding problems. They told me to take out the board, put electric tape around the standoffs, put washers on both sides of the board (man that was tricky) then put the board back in. That didn't solve the problem, nor did exchanging the board for a new one. After basically rebuilding my computer twice, reinstalling windows 6 times and doing various other things, I finally went to the Asus forum and asked a question there. The forum moderator wrote back telling me that although the manual states to enable all 3 USB options in the bios, I should disable the USB Legacy option and see if that solves the problem. Bingo. 30 seconds, problem solved"
