usb mouse cuts off and on

i have a razer viper that keep cutting off and on. Like, i'll be in the middle of a game or something and i will hear the usb device disconnected windows sound and right after i'll hear the connected sound. I have dropped the mouse a couple of times, could this be the cause? is it time for a new mouse?
 
I would suspect a loose connection inside the mouse as a result of the fall -a simple cracked solder joint can cause that. Mice are too cheap to mess with. I would replace it.
