USB -> Molex Connector

Alone

Diamond Member
I'm trying to find a connector that will allow me to hook up a USB cable to a molex connector so I can run some external cathode lights ontop of my desk. What should happen is the USB should plug into my computer, or any USB port I have, and on the other end, I could be able to attach a molex connector to plug into the lights.

Does this exist? I know you can make your own, but I have so very little patience and would rather order one that it reliable.

Thanks!

This will tell you how to make your own. There is such a thing.

USB-Molex

Google USB to Molex and you'll find several.

Cold cathode lights run on 12V - USB only has 5V and precious little of that (up to 500mA). Here is what you need at the bottom of this page: http://www.svc.com/conad.html

You can get 12V off some Firewire ports, but there's not much current available there either, just a bit more than on USB.
