I need faster throughtput and higher FIFO buffer on my on my serial port (16550A). I beleive my buffer often gets full and the system halts. I receive continuos real time quotes info on financial markets. So I wanted to upgrade my serial port via a high speed serial port card based on 16750 or better UART. Is this advisable or should I get a USB based modem?
If you advice for a high speed serial port card then it needs to be PCI based as my mobo (VP6, dual CPU) has no ISA ports.
