Usb Modem - Fax In

I recently installed a DYNEX USB 56K Data/Fax Modem in my WIN XP Pro SP1 system and am using SnappyFax 2000 software to send/receive faxes.

The system sends faxes very well. But, it will not receive any fax. Phone rings but the device will not pick up. I have it set to pickup after 2 rings. Software company suggests I change the init string, which I did. But that didn't help. They have no other suggestion.

One sender said they receive a '388' error when they try to send to me. They don't know what that error means.

Any suggestions to solve this problem would be appreciated.
