USB microphone ? or a splitter for my 8RDA+

My Epox 8RDA+ m/b speaker inputs are both taken up and the last input which can be used for additional speakers or a microphone/whatever is being used by my ATI TV tuner .

Would I be better off getting some sort of splitter(if that works) for that last input or just go with a USB microphone? The reason I ask is that I read somewhere that you should avoid USB mic's though the poster really didn't give a reason why. (Maybe it uses up to much resources ?)

I just wanted to use the mic when I game with my friend and didn't want to have crawl being the PC to switchem.

Any recommendations guys? Or advice

Don't think a splitter would work, as the port is either/or. USB should work, but you might also be able to use a front panel interface to get mic in port.

Thanks for the response pspada,I wasn't to sure about the splitter thing...I wont bother trying it. I guess I'll just get a usb mic.
