USB KVM question

I have a razer usb mouse and memorex usb keyboard attatched via an iogear kvm to two computers. Every time i switch control (hitting ctrl twice) both machines have to go through usb detection. I can hear the usb connect/disconnect sounds windows makes and its not too fast. Is it supposed to work like this? I thougth ps2 kvm switched almost instantly

I used this for awhile on two pc's and it did not do this. But sometimes, it would fade the color, fade away, and I'd have to mess with the usb cables.

With some usb stuff, that acts flakey, you can find the plugged in device in the usb list in hardware settings, and maybe tweak it to properly detect. Or check that its properly listed in the usb list (being detected properly). Should be some tweaking you can do in this usb connections list.

Yes, it has to do this. Unlike legacy PS/2 keyboard/mouse switches, USB switches cannot cheat the host computers into thinking their devices are still connected and just not talking. So to make this work cleanly, your switching will always make one computer see a disconnect of the entire USB branch, and the other one will see a connect.
