i have a usb keyboard that i want to plug into the ps/2 port. the keyboard is the default one that comes with a dell. i have a usb to ps/2 adapter so i can plug the keyboard in just fine. but when its plugged into the ps/2 port it doesnt work at all. can someone please help me solve this problem?

Those USB-to-PS2 adapters only work for USB devices that natively (!) support PS/2 operation, like the mice that come with this adapter (it's green, isn't it?).

Since your keyboard apparently doesn't, there's no helping you.

Dell USB keyboards generally don't support PS/2 operation. It costs more to find a USB to PS/2 converter that actually works than it does for a really good PS/2 keyboard.

Most Dell keyboards are made by Silitek division of LiteOn. So you could get a keyboard with similar feel from Newegg for $10. shipped.
