usb keyboard is not recognized

Hi,

I have a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 USB keyboard plugged into a system with an Epox 8RDA3+ motherboard. The keyboard works fine on another system, but is not recognized by this one, I get a keyboard not present during POST and I cannot type anything. I also tried other usb ports and even an add-on usb card. I have USB keyboard support enabled in the BIOS. There is also a 'Enhance usb compatibility' setting which doesn't change things either way. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does any other USB keyboards work on that machine?

Make sure you have at least Windows Service Pack SP1 installed
This is essential if you are using Nvidia Video Drivers & SP1
must be installed before the Nvida drivers or you will have USB
problems .. this is from the mobo web site

Just tried a Logitech usb keyboard. No go.

I'm talking about before the operating system loads...the keyboard is not detected at the initial startup screen.

I'll look for a firmware update.

You may have to use a ps2 kb to enable usb kb at boot - in the BIOS

Upgraded to latest motherboard firmware and it works now 🙂
