USB Keyboard doesn't work during bootup

thatsright

It only works once you hit the Win login screen. It's a Microsoft wired 600 model keyboard. This is a brand new PC build using Win 10. Had this problem on my last system. The only way I've gotten it to 'work,' is to have a 'ole skool PS/2 keyboard plugged in at the same time as the USB. That one does work to get into the Bios and any other things I need to do before the login screen.

Thoughts?

You may need to change an option in the BIOS for it to see it. Also check which USB Port you have the keyboard plugged into. It should be into a port directly on the motherboard. You may also need to check the correct USB drivers were installed.

Try changing "Legacy USB" setting in BIOS.

Disconnect any other USB devices and see if it works.

Try different USB ports, including front ports.

Reset BIOS to default setting.

Make sure the latest BIOS is installed.

Use one of the two USB ports closest to the PS/2 port.
Those USB ports behave different than other USB ports.
