USB key, can anyone help?

Yesterday my usb key decided to stop working, and when it was connected to any pc it was not even recognised as being there.

After a few hours of trying its finally come to start up but whilst it is a 1gb drive it only shows an 8mb partition? No other partition is available and none of the work saved is showing.

It asks to be formatted but my university work from the day before is currently saved on it and i hadn't had chance to back it up yet.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Is it recoverable at all?

Thanks.

You can try one of the many data recovery tools online like getdataback or others

http://www.runtime.org/

The best advice i can give is if this is recovered, trash the drive and get a new, as cheap as they are it isnt worth the risk to your data

Thanks for the help,

Tried what you said but unfortunately didn't work. Do i need to format the drive before i run the scan as it is only scanning the 8mb not a 1gb partition?

Many of the drive recovery tools will work without a partition. You can try formatting then running it, ive had luck like that in some cases and in some cases its made it worse
