I hope you guys can help.. for no reason my usb will shut down. This kills my mouse and keyboard, forces me to do a hard shutdown as I have no access to anything when this happens. what the hell is going on, that makes my usb just shut off? Yes its all ports.

This is a new system build, windows 7, 2500k processor on Asrock mobo. Stumped, I even made sure my usb's would no go to sleep...but still happens.

exp... it happend once the first time I tried to type this message.

Besides that, I love it. Cold boot to fully loaded in 13 seconds

If it's all USB devices in all ports, it could be a software issue, although that would be unusual. A few things I can think of:

1. Make sure there are no BIOS, Windows OR Asrock software settings causing sleep.
2. update the BIOS.
3. Go into device manager, uninstall the USB controller(s), and reboot, allowing windows to re-install them.
4. Try unpugging devices one at a time to make sure it isn't a device causing a short.

If possible, try another keyboard and mouse and see if you can reproduce the issue. I've got a mouse that must have a short in the cord. It will kill the port if the cord gets bent a certain way. To resolve, I have to unplug and replug.

ok while I was waiting for replys I switched my ram from 1n to 2n..and it has not occured yet since. How could this possibly have anything to do with it? The only reason I did this was I was trying to re-create things I did everytime it happens.

As with a new build I am playing in bio's alot trying to perfect it.
