I bought a generic USB2.0 2.5" card reader from Newegg last winter. It worked great until this week. Windows will recognize the card reader upon startup, but when I try to access the card int the slot, explorer will freeze and crash.

However, It's got a USB2.0 port that still works perfectly?

Any advice? I installed a new processor this week. I went from an E6420 to an E8500. That couldn't have possibly caused all this, right?

Does it do this with all cards or just one? It could be card itself.

Well if the reader won't work on one slot try another. If its still not working then the reader it self may be the problem.

What I meant to suggest was, try a different card in that same port. Sometimes we can get strange mismatches. Off hand, I see the port as the problem.
