I did do a bit of looking around and found several different versions of the "does NT support usb" discussion. Some said yes, some said no. I thought I would step in here and ask if anyone could give me a definitive answer. Thank you so much for your sunshiny pleasant answer. Try to keep the attitude to a minimum in the future ok?

You can get NT4.0 to recognize a USB controller and even install drivers, but I've never heard of anyone actually getting a USB device to work in NT4...

USB in NT does exist in one form that I know of. Since NT doesn't have USB support at the kernal level you'll be out of luck with any USB devices like cameras and mice. The one exception is with USB keyboards. If your machine has USB keyboard support at the bios level, NT will recognize it just fine. There is one caveat and that is that the numlock/capslock/scrollock lights won't work, but that's no big deal. :)

Some manufacturers have NT 4.0 drivers that are specifically written for their devices.

- Iomega's USB Zip and Jaz products do work on NT 4.0.
- PortGear's USB Ethernet also works on NT.
- Blue Systems make NT 4.0 drivers that work with some USB printers, Pocket PC USB cradles, USB keyboards and USB mice.
- HP PhotoSmart S20 USB film scanner works on NT too.

None of the USB webcams I have seen work on NT 4.0 though.

See this http://www.usbworkshop.com/news/read.php3?id=114 if you are interested in this area...
